I this Microsoft's decision to control the porting of .net Microframework and have them avialable to selected vendors and by additional fees is a mistake, This can be the hottest embedded platform if it is allowed to spread to more platforms more quickly by user community contributions. Case in point, I would love to use this for our next product but I am not to thrilled about any of the existing platforms and vendors out there. The hottest ARM platform is the CORTEX by luminary micro and others, I would like to have a shot of porting .net Microframework without havin to pay fees or making commitments.
Look at how many people have ported linux to various platforms. If this is opened up (I am just talking about HAL and PAL) soon there will be many platform to choose from and many smart people would help to spread the use of this great environment. Microsoft is finally leaned the lessen for Windows CE and making good attempts to spread the platform. I hate to see time wasted on the .net Micro Framework. Given the popularity of C# and revolutionaty concept that is, it should catch on like wildfire. Just give us a chance to port this to more platforms.
